On your heads, tea break's over

Quite an interesting day today. Perused the bbs and declined the kind invitation from Clarky to enter into a cyber-tiff ;-) and then rose to ITK's bait who made me an offer I simply couldn't refuse.

Feeling happy about falling into his trap, I decided to watch 'The Shawshank Redemption' since Nicola was at work and it's not the done thing to blubber in front of your lass. The phone rang half way through and it transpires that Nic had a bit of 'an accident' at work, to the tune of springing a major leak. They are keeping her in Maternity until Tuesday in case she goes into labour - 26.5 weeks, so she's viable but it's dodgy.

They gave me a tour of the Special Care Baby Unit where Nicola actually works (hence she's bloody terrified) to prepare me for it if little Bobby reports early for pre-season training. All I can say is that the telly cannot prepare you for seeing premature babies up close. I've raised kittens that are larger than these little mites. Miraculous. Nothing less than miraculous.

I spent the whole journey over to visit her worrying about being run over and having to explain what I was doing creeping about with a bag full of women's knickers! The subconscious, eh? What's it for?!?!?

Softie mate - best wishes to Nic. As you know, she's in the best place to get it sorted so divvent worry (easy to say but not easy to do). Thoughts are with you and your lass - and of course Little Bobby. All the best.

PS. Don't worry about the bag full of women's knickers. There's not such a stigma associated with this sort of thing these days.

Oh Softie - that must have you both worried. Loads of positive thoughts coming you way from down here in the South. Fingers crossed that everything slows down a bit, but I`m sure she`ll be getting the best of everything where she is anyway. Even the real `wee ones` do so well nowadays. Keep us posted.

As long as you weren't wearing the knickers, you're alright. ;-)

Seriously, my thoughts are with all of you. Just let Bobby know that he hasn't been called up to Euro2000 and should just relax where he is for another few weeks, and stop giving his mum and dad early grey hairs. He'll have plenty of time for that in the next 18 or so years. ;-)

The invitation's cancelled.
Thinking about you and your lass.
Best wishes.

Sorry to hear that news Softie.....I know from experience how worrying such a time can be.......hope everything works out alright and that Nic and the little 'un are both alright.

Thanks Lads and Lasses, you all have a way of making the big, scary stuff smaller and more manageable. A night next to the phone and no calls so she must be o.k. Anyway, Nic's too organized to have the baby yet; she has bought him clothes with an Autumnal theme and she'll jolly well cross her legs until the end of August or he'll be in all sorts of bother. Thus speaks the voice of the man who got harangued for not chipping the tiles off the utility room wall before visiting!

One thing's for sure, mind, if you ever get the feeling that the World is passing you by, you can discount overnight telly, it ain't happening on there :-)

Mornin` Softie - nice to hear you sounding chirpy this morning. If you have been up all night watching the box, I`m amazed. Night time televsion is enough to send anyone on a downward spiral! I always end up feeling very frayed about the edges after one of `those` nights. Suggest a hearty breakfast and a walk in the sunshine before you visit Nicola to-day, just to re-inforce your positive attitude! (:o)

Weren't the knickers your shade then Softie?

All the best to Nic and yourself. Keep us posted.

Best of luck to all three of you Softie.

Thanks again folks, everything's settled down again. The twinges didn't turn into contractions and the leaking didn't become a flood. She's staying in for a bit longer because they're worried about her persistent high temperature (I thankfully bit back telling them it was just brought about through being permanently annoyed with her husband!) and are giving her a chest xray to see whether the cough has infected her. Must say, we're very relieved, and I even got complimented for bringing her a good colour-combination of clothing in, so she's certainly perked up. I think I'll go and have a kip now. Zzzzzzzzzz...

Looks like I missed the almost emergency bit :) still I'd like to add my belated best wishes to you both....hope she's out and about and haranguing you again very soon tiger!

All quiet on the Western Front then Softie. That's great.
I hope the next few weeks prove to be incredibly boring for you and Nicky.
For my part, I'll try to desist from provoking you during this stressful period - although to be honest, that wasn't my intention yesterday.
Best wishes to Nicky when you see her next.

Good

Good news, Softie. The rest should do Nic a world of good. Probably not the hospital food though. Congrats on bringing a matching outfit for her! ;-)

Glad things are better now, Softie. Much love to you and Nic.

Softie, I think it's all a ruse. You did say Nic works there? Well, call me cynical, but I reckon if yo udon't get all the plaster off the wall, re-done and decorated before she comes home, you're in for the high jump. Better invite Jay around to help out. On second thoughts, not a good idea. Try Jonno, Rik and Clarky. Gibbo could reach the ceiling if you don't have ladder.

Glad things have calmed down. Hope it stays that way for a while longer.

Whoa, hang in their Nic. You at least want to get Euro 2000 out of the way before the little un makes an appearance. Good luck to the two.. no, the three of you.
