NE Wembley hoodoo strikes again

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Another NE team is snake-bitten at our favourite stadium as Darlington went down 1-0 to the Posh.
Canny game in which Darlo were clearly the better team with most of the play and most of the chances. However, I'm afraid they've learned what The Toon learned a few weeks ago - if you don't put the ball in the net, you lose.
They acquitted themselves well, and can count themselves very unfortunate.
BTW, the conditions were dreadful with heavy rain lending the pitch virtually waterlogged. If the rain doesn't ease the England match v Brazil could either in doubt or played in poor conditions.

Probably been said before but can anyone explain why the play-off match was switched to Friday yet again so England could play tomorrow? I would assume that the bulk of the fans for the England game would come from a bliddy sight nearer the stadium that the poor lads and lasses from Darlo.

I felt dead sorry for Neil Aspin. I saw him lose in the Div 2 play- off for Port Vale against West Brom in '93 after Vale had finished TWELVE points ahead of them in the league. Wembley's a b*st*rd isn't it.
