greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

My father has tons of slide from about 20 to 30 years ago that are the size of 2 1/4 By 2 1/4 inch slides. I'm looking for a good scanner that will scan these slides. all the ones I see today are 35 mm or APS. Can someone suggest a scanner that will do this for me?

Thanks,

Tom

Dedicated film scanners to handle this size of film start at around $2000 US (for the Minolta Dimage scan multi). A flatbed scanner and transparency adapter will be less costly, but quality will be lower. Epson's Perfection 1200 photo scanner, which includes the transparency hood, seems to give the best quality-for-money ratio. (about $350)

Thanks for the info, I will look at the cheaper Epson's Perfection 1200 photo scanner. 2000 dollars is a lot of money.

Thanks, Tom

Microtek scanmaker 4 has a second built in scanning bed for all size negatives up to 8 by 10 inches. The US price of about 600 dollars includes a full blown edition of Adobe photoshop.
