More Than 2 Million Gallons of Waste Pour Into Black Sea After Sewer Accident The Associated Press

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) - About 2.1 million gallons of human waste poured into the Black Sea after a sewer pipe broke in the port city of Sevastopol, emergency officials said Thursday. The pipe ruptured Wednesday evening. Officials halted sewer system pumps and diverted the flow into the sea until repairs could be completed Thursday, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

It was the second sewer failure in Sevastopol since February, when the city's main sewer pipe broke, sending waste into the sea.
