When did you live in Ipswich mate?

I was there from 1995-1996 worked for the Council. I loved the place, great people and I often went to Portman Road. I remember sitting next to Fances once as he watched Chris Armstrong play for Palace. Ipswich lost that day to an own goal.

Mustve just missed u in Ipswich cos i was there 97/98 for a year ;-)

I lived up in the hospital as I was doing my Junior doctor year there (nearly dying in the process with the long hours etc). Met Alf Ramsey as a patient+ just missed out seeing Dyer in A+E as I was away for lunch ;-(

Loved Ipswich as a town- quiet but very nice place. People were very friendly once you got to know them a bit.... though i think theyre a bit reserved towards nonlocals initially as it is quite an isolated area with not many 'foreign' visitors.

Spent manys a night in the Old Rep pub in the middle of town followed by one of a terrible choice of nightclubs ;-) Ended up in either Libertys, Chicagos or Hollywoods. Nightlifes much better these days- i go up there most months to see a few old friends- few nice new pubs in town+ theres about 8 nightclubs to chose now including Pals, Brannigans, Liquid .... Hollywods has been done up+renamed(was there last Friday night!)

Great year there+loved visiting the surrounding areas like Woodbridge which had a couple of great traditional pubs. Went to Portman Road a number of times including one of the playoff semis- never seen fans so heartbroken. Greatest footballing memory was after the world cup 98 Columbia game when THOUSANDS of people filled the square in the middle of the town singing 'footballs coming home'.

Im in the process of twisting my other halfs arm to go up to Ipswich and watch the bank holiday play off final in a pub- the atmosphere wud be incredible !!
