Nikon Coolpix 990: What is difference EH-30/EH-31 AC Adapters?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

The Nikon literature says the EH-31 AC adapter is for use with the Coolpix 990. I see it nowhere for sale. What is the difference between the EH-31 and the EH-30, which is commonly available and recommended for the Coolpix 950 and older cameras?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what the difference is myself, but I've seen both for sale at egghead.com for $42.99

I've seen this asked before on the Nikon site. If I remember correctly, the Nikon tech said the plugs are different.

I regularly use my Coolpix 950 power adaptor on my Coolpix 990 without any problem. The plug is the same.

Same here... using the EH-30 off and on for 3 weeks now, no problems. From previous posts, it is my understanding that it is an FCC issue in that the EH-30 did not pass the mustard. Again, even after using the EH-30 for several hours at a time, no problems.

According to Nikon, it' will work, but they can't warranty it for legal reasons – FCC and such. Nikon in Europe explains it: www.nikon-euro.com/nikoneuro_en/faq/dc/dce990/en/FAQ_dce990_en_5.ht m
