So you all wanna know who it is?

My dosh is on Eidur Gudjonsen. Old Sam was on TV tonight saying he was resigned to losing him and that the money he'd get would help him strengthen the squad.

I reckon #5.5M.

It looks like Gudjohnsson will be on his way ina couple of days. We need to act fast if we want to tie up this deal.

Slightly concerned that Robson, Wadsworth and Milne are all still in T&T! I'm sure (and hopeful) that they could tie up a deal from there.

Gudjonsen, what are his best attributes. Whenever l've seen him play l haven't noticed him. Is he worth 5.5m? This considering Kanu was 4?

Actually, BR is in Paris - attending the Valencia v Real CL Final this evening. Not sure who's with him. He is heading back to the Caribbean with his wife afterwards for a holiday.
He was reported in The Ronnie yesterday as being in discussion with Kiko's, Agent although not regarding him as his main transfer target.
In time honoured tradition, the Journal this morning ridicules suggestions that BR is interested in Kiko! The local newspapers - all under the same ownership - do this all the time. I guess it fills a few column inches.
Idle speculation I know, but it would an ideal opportunty to talk to Franch clubs interested in Domi and Goma, and also to Real Madrid about Solano or Roberto Carlos - just threw that one in for effect! The name Mendietta also springs very easily to mind, if your prepared to dream.

Gudjohnsson is only 21 yet he played under Bobby Robson during Robson's spell at PSV when the dream 'future' partnership was Gudjohnsson and a certain Ronaldo.

He suffered a career threatening ankle injury which looks to have made a complete recovery. With regards to what he could bring the Toon, depends on what position he plays.

As a striker he offers good finishing, movement and skill and reminds me a lot of a Dalglish in his pomp. But he can also play attacking midfield where his excellent passing comes into play and his creativity.

The fact that he is only 21 and if we can get the lad on a long contract, I reckon it will turn out to be cheap. He's scored over 20 goals in Div 1 this year. I maintain if he was English we'd have to pay Michael Owen sort of money to get him.

Manchester City are reported to have offered 6mil for Gudjonsson. I don't care what else we do this summer, but I will be furious if we don't sign this kid. This would put us in the position of Blackburn when they signed Shearer from Sotton. He's dynamite and just about to start paying out in silver dollars. 21 years old and plays with more poise and sheer striking instinct than 3 Paul Robinsons. We'll regret it for years if we don't, I'm sure of it.
