how to get ripped chest

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Bodybuilding : One Thread

I am a 17 year old and been lifting for years. I weigh 200lbs and am 6 feet. I play football and would like to get a ripped chest. My chest is huge, but it has a little fat on it. I would like to loose that fat while also gaining size in my arms. If any one can answer my questions i would appreciate it.

well, first of all are you working out besides playing ball? because the key is proper chest workouts. When i work out i usuelly do three chest excersises, decline, flat, and incline benching. I do flat with a bench bar and the other two with dumbells. Use a good wieght thats kinda hard. Pushups may also help too. hope this helps you Sean J.

Billy, I noticed that a guy sent you a responce telling you to workout with the triple bench press set to get ripped pec's,,,,well thats all very well but you you said you wanted a ripped look? ok try this

dumbbell fly's 8-10 reps 3 sets with a heavy weight as you can handle

Cable pull overs again the same amout of set and reps with a heavy weight ( these really work on the defining )

Negitive release cables cross overs a real burn but worth the extra effort.

Hope these help you out

If you are happy with the size of your chest and just want to get rid of some of the overlying fat, you can do all the chest exercises you want and you won't get that "ripped" look . Your chest may still increase in size, but there is no way to spot reduce fat. I don't care who tells you that the best exercise is x reps of X percentage of your max, 8 days a week,20 different exercises divided by your birthday, divided by the number of aunts on your mother's side of the family... (you get the picture)

Keep up with the same chest workout that you've been doing and GET AEROBIC!!! Get on a bike, treadmill, run on the road or track- it really doesn't matter. Just get moving. You can't spot reduce the fat on your chest regardless of who tells you what.

If you want to get a ripped looking chest you have to drop some weight, no getting around that. Next add some heavy flys into your chest day 70-90pounds. Then fucking tear it up every few days. Thats all there is to it.

I have the same problem but if i was you i would do whatever chest excersies you regularly do only change them up every three months. Also combine some intense cardio to your routine and you should after a month or so see the results.

Ok this string is working in the direction, but no poster has mentioned the abdomen.

I know a lot of people with great looking chests, but there is NO definition because their gut is protruding! Let's remember this: A ripped chest must extend further than one's abdomen (at least in my book).

The Physiologist had the best answer, GET AEROBIC! Burn that fat! But here's one more: Work your abdomen (not muscle building per se, but FAT BURNING. I use something call the AB-DOER ***not a product endorsement****). I also use about 100 to 200 push-ups to help define the muscles of the shoulder/upper back which aid in posture and thus a more "ripped look."

Good Luck!

DO HEAVY CARDIO!!!!!!!!! tHAT WILL DEFINITLEY GET YOU RIPPED. KEEP DOING THE SAME EXCERCISES YOU ARE DOING, BUT DO CARDIO. YOULL BE RIPPED IN NO TIME AT ALL.

This isn't a response to Billy's question, however I have several questions myself. I am 5'11 and a half and about 165 pounds on a good day. So as you can see I'm a little under weight, and I was just wondering about any weight gainer or protein subliments that would help myself gain weight? Or should I just keep eating right, and work out as much as I can? I guess I'm just kinda looking for an easy way out but i would like to bump my weight up to a chizzled 175. Getting cut has always been easy for me its just the weight gaining that's hard. If anyone has a response please do so..thanks.
