Starting Line Up for New Season

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Assuming we have a bit of success on the transfer front:

Richard Wright (Once Ipswich are out of the play-offs, in exchange for Given + #) Barton Howey Goma Pistone (Domi sold) Solano Guardiola Speed Dyer Ferguson Shearer

Subs: Gudjohnson Dabizas Gavilan Hughes Harper

Still doesn't solve the left wing berth though!

I like it De Builder
1)New goalie yes.
2)Howey no! I'd bomb him oot.Helder & Goma for me, with Dabs and Marcelino as cover - Marcelino might come good, I hope so.
3)I'd like two central midfield players (one creative the other hard and hard working) but I have no opinion.
4)Gudjohnson up front yes.
5)I'd have Gallagher as one of the subs.

How much for Harper do you reckon?

Nobby staying?

What about Enrique? (sp) Domi (staying) on the left wing, playing in front of pisshole errr Pistone.

Nobby being such a lightweight short arse is more suited to a stop start kind of game. The kind of game played in hotter countries but I like him and I'd like him to stay.
I'd flog Harper or Given for errmm #2mil.
I'm I the only one around who rates Steven/Stephen Glass. Canny I thought.

I think with the options that Domi reputedly has, he won't be hanging round much longer.

Clubs like Lyon and PSG, not to mention Liverpool, can offer him Champions League football in his preferred left back position. What can we offer him...understudy to Pistone or left midfield.

I don't think we'll have Helder next season either, his injury problems are the last thing we need in the Centre of Defence.

I really hope the Richard Wright transfer would go ahead, unlikely I know but if Ipswich fail to get in the Prem he'll want to move. Where better than to Old Ipswich man Bobby and his mate Kieron. Ipswich were reportedly interested in Given during the season. We'd have to give them some cash but Wright is an outstanding keeper who'll be England's No. 1 soon.

I forgot about Bassedas as well but as I don't really know much about his ability I'll reserve judgement. I still expect there to be a couple of surprise outgoings in the close season.

Who I'd like to go:
Perez (ars*wipe),Given or Harper(nothing between them imo, too wee and prone to dropping bollox), Hamilton, Brady, Helder/Howey/Marcelino ( two of the three - depending on injuries and form ), Maric, Formica, Serrant, Kets.

Who I think could go:

Dodgy,

Tell me you're not from Washington? I thought that only me and Bill could be that cynical ;))

I read somewhere that Marcellino wants to stay at Newcastle. This could either be because of his enormous wages or a deep ambition to show the Premier League he's a decent defender.

Bobby must have seen him during his spell in Spain and I suppose he may keep him if he gets himself fit. Wouldn't it be ironic (don't you think?!) if Bobby built his defense with Marcellino and Goma, two Gullit signings.

Crocks and Shite are the word that come to mind. Would you spend cash on that lot?

This central defense stuff has been going on a while and everyone has their own view , and for what its worth there's mine . Helder - no no ... u saw Nathan Blake tear him apart and nearly lose us that game at Blackburn had YBR not had the sense to take him off . Howey - FA cup semi and numerous other league blunders .. uh uh . Marcelino - 'That ' performance at Wimbledon was truly abysmal . Dabs - stray hands , and 'that ' challenge against niall (ptuh) to let in the weasel . Goma - injured plenty but strong as an ox . Hughesy - 100% commitment and not a little skill . Im all for Hughesy and Goma staying with dabs as cover ... but we NEED a solid man at the back to form the defense around . get rid of the rest .

Couldn't agree more Sting, we need to find a Matt Elliot type who is excellent in the air, strong, can tackle and has a fair amount of pace and positional awareness. If we found him it'd be a miracle!!

Well I think that Jonno, Softie, Screacher, Swift, Dougal, Galaxy, Jay, Ciara, Geordie (Great competition organiser) are certs to start all games.

I am a bit worried about Sting and Gav (Too rude), Rik (appears to be absent from injury, albeit self induced;O)), De Builder and Dodjie Spooler (Sort of Bartonish loads of commitment but quantity lacking)

ITK seems far too interested in winding up SMBs (our cyber hooligan perhaps)

Of the others in the squad, all team players who can make valuable contributions on their day and we would be a lesser club without them.

Oh forgot the youngster, Tre shows heaps of promise if it can be knocked into him that our youngsters are as good as any others he may come along nicely.

Who would I get rid of?

Well the likely candidate is LR it seems he only wants to be here so he can say I'm LR from the Geordie BBS. May be a bit harsh does anyone know if he has this bandwagon tendancy??
