On the transfer Front.....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Found on another website, I cant remember which one though:

==================================================================== Tottenham had been reported to be linked with Newcastle's Georgian international Temuri Ketsbaia, which include some of the Premiership clubs.

Since the arrival of Bobby Robson to St James' Park, Ketsbaia has failed to hold down a regular place in the Newcastle team, which the partnership of England's captain Alan Shearer and Ducan Ferguson is preferred.

Ketsbaia would like to be remain in the Premiership, and a move to a new club with a guarantee first team place is welcome. With Bobby Robson having to offload some players before dipping into the transfer market himself, Ketsbaia could be near the top of the boss' hit list.

If the Ketsbaia move to White Hart Lane is to settle, that means the end of the Spurs career of both strikers Chris Armstrong and Les Ferdinand.

====================================================================

It begs the question, while we all hope its true, why does the entry of one bald headed tw@t mean the end of BOTH Sir Les and Chris Armstrong.....the latter I could understand, but there is no way the Kets could EVER replace Sir Les.

Has anyone mentioned that Scoop Gibson, in Saturday's Chronic, said that BR may not have been given as much as the reported #15m? Where did the #15m figure come from in the first place? If it came from the Sunday Sun then forget it - it's not true. If it was Alan Oliver in the Chronic, who's right, him or Gibson?

As regards Ketsbaia going to Tottenham! Are they SURE? That would be a bit of a come down for the Tottenham fans after Rebrov.

If Kets wants regular first team football in the UK he'll either have step down to the Nationwide, or at best join one of the relegation candidates - Charlton, Man City, Barnsley/Ipswich, or Sunderland.

I actually feel a bit sorry for the ol' baldy bugger. He joined us a useful international midfield player - I recall him having an excellent game for Georgia against England in central m/f. However, he has never had a run in the side in midfield other than a few games wide left in his first season. Since then he's been used as a stand in striker, where he is quite clearly not equipped to play. He's a OK bloke - hope he does well.
