which of the 2 sony mavica cameras..73 or 83 is the better to use for shooting pottery for eBay, which is my primary use for a digital? I can get either one for the same price..

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

My primary use for a digital camera is to take fairly close up photos of fine art pottery for eBay listings. My current camera does a fairly good job. However, I'm told that the Sony Mavica 73 would be an improvement for this purpose. I now see that I can buy an 83 for the same price..which one should I choose? One of the problems that we experience with a current digital is that background color is distorted on the final printout...is this a problem with the camera or possibly with the program? We are using EZ Photo now. An understandable 'layman's' answer would be appreciated, as I am not technically oriented, and hopefully can avoid unecessary detail..another word for 'lazy'!! Thanks! Jim

Hello, I bought an FD83 2 months ago because my wife runs a carving factory. She mainly makes figures out of tagua, a vegetable material similar in all aspects to ivory, and difficult to photograph for catalogs and the web due to its white nature. Anyway, the camera makes great and detailed close-ups (I can email you one of our photos if you want to see). If you have not bought the camera yet I suggest you to get the 83. If you have done your choice, the I can offer you tagua carvings for your business (we do not have a representative in US yet, only in spain).
