DONAHUE: floppy storage - no download?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

When you have floppy storage on a digital camera, does it store the picture in jpeg format so it can just be copied to the computer rather than downloaded? A web evaluation site showed the Olympus c2020 as having floppy storage in addition to a smartmedia card. Everything else I read says only Sony has floppy storage. I asked Olympus and they responded with a bunch of specs that did not answer my question. Does the c2020 have floppy storage?

Never used an Oly so I can't comment. I have used Sony Mavicas, FD-7, FD-91, and soon to be FD-95. All store images on a standard PC formatted floppy as standard jpeg's. No download, no cables, no interfaces -- just shove it in the A: drive. I have opened them on PC's and Mac's both without incident. The newer Sonys also use memory sticks in an adapter, not something I am interested in.

Hi, i think you saw a flashpath adaptor, you put the smartmedia in this so you can get the images like a floppy, quicker than seriel
