size constraints for negative

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I need the 'exact size constraints' to use when editing a digital picture to have a negative made from the picture. A large quanity (250+)of 3.5 x 5 reprints will be made from the negative. Hope someone can help? Thank you! M.Patterson

You need to talk to the lab who is making your negative and then to the lab making the print. This one is really important because different labs will crop the negative different ways. this way you will know what part of the negative will be cropped. You can then instruct the person making the negative for you to make it the right size. The other alternative is to find a lab that is printing direct from digital to photographic paper and work out a deal. This way you don't need a negative made.

You might want to join OFOTO.com and get 100 free prints and upload the file to them.
