Hoverfly macro

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Hi all, Ive recently become hooked on macro-photography and am interested in trying to sell my work...Would images like this be acceptable/in demand on the stock-photo market? I realize that the framing is tight, but it was either that or use the 50/1.8 (@1:1 when reversed) which would only result in the hoverfly taking up less than 1/3 of the frame. Any comments would be very helpful, thanks.

Nikon F2,Nikon 28/2 AI-S(reversed),F16 1sec (i think) ,Velvia,MLU,Tripod,Kodak photocd,Photoshop.

I think the image is too soft and the dark area in the corner is distracting. I don't know much about stock photography...but I think they'll expect it to be better technically.

The first thing is to get the focus spot on. There is not one bit here in sharp focus so get that right first. Yes the black is distracting and you'll have to start using flash off camera to fix things like that
