Projection Welding of Stainless Steel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

Greetings all.

I am in the process of buying a second hand projection welder for welding of thin stainless steel sheet. However i cannot find any data relating to dimple sizes for stainless. Would any be able to help.

Many thanks in advance.

Response to Projection welding of stainless steel

I did some seaching, and finally found something close to the charts that you are looking for online.

Data like this should be availible from the RWMA at http://www.rwma.org, but you have to pay a good sum of money, and wait for them to ship the information to you.

The index to what I found is at: http://www.rwpweld.com/rwp/tips/tips.htm

1. "Projection Welding data for Low Carbon steels" http://www.rwpweld.com/rwp/tips/appdata2.gif

2. "Projection welding data for Galvanized Low Carbon steels" http://www.rwpweld.com/rwp/tips/appdata4.gif

3. "Schedule for spot welding Stainless Steel" http://www.rwpweld.com/rwp/tips/appdata3.gif

Maybe someone else could chime in as to how accurate these charts will be for what you want to do, which is projection weld stainless steel. How does stainless weld in comparison to low carbon?

Saw your query on the net.We are manuufacturers of Stored Energy Projection welders in India. We are specialising in S.S.Projection welding.

Kindly give us information as to the sheet thicknesses you have to weld and the specifications of the machine you have.

On receipt of above we will send you a chart indicating projection geometry for various sheet thicknesses.

Thanks and regards,
