LONG BEACH At least 1,000 Southern California Edison customers lost power early Wednesday after a rodent climbed into a transformer. The incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. in a transformer near Anaheim Street and Alamitos Avenue, affecting customers in the mid-city, downtown and central areas. Most customers regained power by 5 a.m.

Long Beach Poly High School, like 132 other customers, had no power until 4:40 p.m., said Karen Shepard-Grimes, an Edison spokeswoman.
