New Canon EOS D30

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

FWIW, I just read the following, at http://www.techphoto.org/ :-

"Canon has just released the EOS-D30 consumer level digital SLR..................."

You can read more about the D30 at - http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/BeBit-e.html

To me, this seems like a very inviting step into digital for the EOS user. Who do you think this camera is aimed at/made for ? or Who would be able to put such camera to good use ? Being a 'consumer level' camera it couldn't cost more than an EOS 3, could it ?

Luke.

It is aimed at professional whose pocket are not quite deep enough for the Nikon D-1. Its estimated price is 3000 Euros, or about $2500-$2700. If this was a consumer level camera, EOS-1V would be a disposable level camera.

Canon's list price is stated to be USD$3500. What the street price will be is a supply and demand and competition issue. FWIW the street price for a '3' is USD$999.
