Olympus C-2020 v. Kodak DC280 v. Epson 850Z

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hello!

I am losing my mind trying to decide on a 2MP camera. I have narrowed my choices to the Olympus C-2020, Epson 850Z and Kodak DC-280. It seems like the Olympus is more professional a camera than the Kodak, the Epson being similar. I noticed in Image-Resources review that the Olympus has distortion problems (with their lenses). The Kodak is rated as without distortion. I do not have the possibility to test each of these and would like to make a choice. I would appreciate comments from someone accustomed to these cameras.

Thanks much.

If you care about manual control, you should dump the kodak from your list, which has no aperture or shutter priority. The kodak also can't take external flash. The other two are really good. Hey, flip a coin.

I bought an 850Z about six months ago and I'm very happy with it. I actually preferred the Olympus C-2020, but the camera was a Christmas gift for my son and he liked the Epson better. I have no regrets buying it. I use a Nikon Coolpix 950 occassionaly, and much prefer the Epson because it handles more like a 35mm camera. The flash hot shoe is nice too, and I've had no problems using my Vivitar 285HV with the 850Z.
