Fair Play League

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Sheffield Wednesday have won the Fair Play League, with ManU 2nd, Leicester 3rd and Newcastle a creditable 4th. Does this mean that Sheff. Wedn. might get into Europe? Farcical if that's the case.

I believe that to be the case. However, it must be a complete mockery. Newton Heath in 2nd place. Tell me you're pulling me leg Windy.

Doesn't surprise me in the least Screach - they get away with bloody murder, and that's now an established FACT, apparently.

I heard on the radio recently that some Researcher has studied every refereeing decision in every PL game since its inception. He concluded that over the entire history of the PL, 87% of refereeing decisions have gone in manure's favour. The associated jibe was that Roy Keane has disputed every one of the other 13%.

I don't know how valid these results are, but it certainly makes you think.

Clarky - that stat was on 'They Think It's All Over' the other night too. Of course, refs are never biased towards Manure are they...oh no no.

Hahahaha..the Magical Mythical Tour continues. hahahah

If you lot actually believe that some "expert" has studied EVERY PL refereeing decision since it first started then you really do live in cloud cuckoo land.

I wouldn't discount it so easily LR, they can tell you how many passes a player had made in a season, so refereeing decisions would be easier to collate.

Yeh I know OPTA only started a season or two ago.

There is a database of refereeing decisions. It is used by FIFA and UEFA to assess who should be refereeing international games. You're way behind the times, LR.

Douggie......."over the entire history of the PL"...absolute bollox. I don't believe for one minute that every PL game has been recorded fully by Sky. Not since 1993 or whenever it was. And one "expert's" opinion that 80% odd of decisions have gone United's way is laughable.

What's even more funny is that not one of you are willing to accept any "statistic" that shows Andy Cole for what he is...a great and PROVEN goal scorer...yet yer all falling aver yerselves at this latest "statistic" and willing to believe that ALL referees love us and want us to win everything. And Geordies are supposed to know about football?...... :-)

LR, get off your high horse, I was merely pointing out that there are records of all refereeing decisions. Hence, I know that we are actually one of the least punished sides and that Andy D'Urso has been hardest on us. These things are recorded. What it can't, of course, say, is whether so few penalties are awarded at Old Trafford because no one gets anywhere near your penalty area. See?

You forgotten how to count LR?

I only see a couple of people giving it the big un about this latest new super stat!

Anyway we don't need stats to know that you're reputation and clout in the game give referees pause for thought when they think of punishing you....

Can't imagine that twat Urine Rennie sending one of your players off for backing in.....can you? Tagnuts would make it his mission in life to get him killed.....
