Chris, I have kept silent while I watched you continously break the rules within this group. This file size (99k) is twice the size as mandated by the rules. What's the deal with you? As far as the photo goes it has poor contrast, very poor sharpness (ie no fine detail). Also, did you recently go out and purchase a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 camera? This format, unless you have severly cropped the image, seems to be a medium format negative.

Yes I cropped it ! Is that rule breakng ? The bottom half of the image had cobbles, which I presume would come into the "No hand of man" rule - Hence I though I would crop them out, as other users of photo net have suggested with my other images.
So the image does nothing for you ? I kind of agree, but of the photos Ive taken I though it to be quite good. Any suggestions how I could have made it better - Its seems to be quite easy to be a critique - all you need do is tell them you dislike the image.
Image size !!! Arggg I didnt notice that ! Sorry :-)

Resized the image - now only 30k Sorry for that.

Chris, You say "Kept to the rules for certain this time!" Gary called your attention to the broken rule for file size and I'm going to have to call your attention to the broken rule for no more than one posting a week. Your last image was posted on 5/12. Today is 5/17. There are 7 days in a week and that means that you shouldn't have posted until at least 5/19 and your next posting shouldn't be until at least 5/26. Once you start following the rules that everyone else tries to live by I'll look at your images and try to give you some honest feedback. Until then, I'll remain annoyed by your discourtesy to the hosts of this site and the rest of us regular visitors.

Chris, you can go to http://www.photocritique.net/ and post there. Their posting rules are a little more liberal. I'm not sure how many you can post a week, but it's more than one.

Talk about spitting your dummy out !

You know, its not my normal rule to leave a site due to the people that use it, but in this case I am making an exception. This is supposed to be about photography, but the majority of you seem to be more intrested in the 'critique' - not just the photos, but anything you can have a gripe at.

To all those that actually had anything constructive to say, of which there are a few, I give you my thanks, to the rest, enjoy your rules.

mmmmm. to me the first rule of photography is not to follow the rules if a image works in the centre stick it there if a image horizon works in the centre stick it there. So tell if rules are supposed to be broken in photography then what gives here. The so called rules says if a image is not good enough etc etc it will be deleted. If this one broke so may rules why is it here. Get a life a few of you. Now to your image Chris. It's not bad although doesn't seem to be in sharp focus but then again that could be the scan. I personally though havenever seen a landscape in B&W that i didn't think would look better in color. You have good technique in blurring the water and so on but I will say if you looked at maybe a different angle it may have worked better. Don't worry about cropping images sometimes you need to.

Chris, I don't think people would be as worried and/or critical about your breaking the rules set out for this forum if it weren't for the fact that you keep insisting you're not breaking them. Here you insist you're following the rules, which you plainly didn't. Hell, you even posted the link to this image the last time you posted.

It's getting pretty obvious that you crave attention, acceptance, and approval by your continuously posting images to this board. Well, attention you've got, but the combination of your apparent inability to actually pay attention to what you're doing and your self-righteous indignation took care of not getting the other two. Don't blame the people here for calling attention to the fact that you're an idiot -- you did a much better job yourself than they could have done.

Christian,

I was going to comment on your post but then you will soon be a lawyer and you probably can't help yourself. I most like the people pictures on your web site. Maybe someday I can be like you.

With love, Charles

To Chris Rustage: I must apologize for my comment above. It was inexcusable and inappropriate. If anything, it shows that I was the idiot that day and not you. I hope that I am not to blame for the recent lull in your improving posts; I look forward to seeing your next contribution.

To Charles: Thank you for calling my attention back to this post. I also apologize to you and to the rest of this message board for such a rude post. It won't happen again.

Not at all - I'm in Las Vegas at the moment, visiting my mother and taking loads of photos. Hope to post to the sight as soon as I have the films developed.
Chris

Agree w/Christian (second post) - your posts have shown definite improvement, and I'm looking forward to seeing more progression.
