Trouble arises when non-experts with a political agenda act on technical subjects

Many of the press articles we read on environmental issues are written by folks with little understanding of the technical issues. Many have a political agenda. A large portion believe everything that they read on the web.

Here is an example in principle. Mbeki

People will die because of this. Public interaction over these technical issues is important. Final decisions should be made by the public. But beware!!!

Is there any basis for this fear? "destabilize global markets"? I don't see the rationale here.
