I was in the pub tonight and met a guy from Herrington, who issued me with a simple Durham challenge. he didn't believe that I was from Durham and so asked me a simple question hich he said that all people from Durham would know

What's missing from the horse in the market place?

I had no idea, never paid that much attention to it. But apparently it was spotted by a blind man. I now know the answer but did anyone else know?

In the pub there wqas a darts competition and I managed to win a game (you didn't see the opposition) anyway I won a goody bag, which included a Guinees golf ball, mirror, packet of crisps and a Newcastle Brown Ale Glass. Now noone in the pub could understand why I was so happy. I'm still smiling now. A Brron Ale Glass!!! Champion!

Is the answer, There's not a pile of stinking manure beneath it? OR could it be, there isn't a parking ticket on it? As when I used to go to Durham indoor market I used to get a parking ticket for as soon as I stopped my Van. The traffic wardens in the city centre are reet bastards, the worst in the North East.

No apparently the answer is a tongue. It was of great amazement to me last night (when aled up) but in the cold light of day it was rather boring.
With regards to the traffic wardens, my father reckoned that there used to be one in the 70's who he actually saw hiding behind the horse waiting for people to park. Nowadays they're a bit friendlier and will allow you a minute to pop into the bank. They still need $hooting though :)
