Learn all John Wells' tried-and-true methods of secret-keeping

Sorry if anyone already posted this (from the Philadelphia Inquirer May 15):

ER fans weren't the only ones surprised by George Clooney's reappearance on the show last week. Even top-ranking NBC execs didn't know the actor would show up as Dr. Doug Ross to sweep nurse Carol Hathaway off her feet in Thursday's episode. The Los Angeles Times reported that ER executive producer John Wells was so determined to keep the moment secret that he promised bonuses to crew members for keeping quiet, excised the scene from the script presented to NBC, and even HID THE FOOTAGE IN HIS REFRIGERATOR (!!). "It's so difficult to keep anything quiet anymore," Wells said.

Did he seriously hide the footage in his refrigerator?! Too funny. :-)

it's good to know that it was so important to him to keep it secret. so important that it was hid in strange places. that is very funny.

I read that too, I think it's hysterical...plus now I'm think of the interview w/ GC and NW before Fail-Safe, when they asked him if he would be returning...NW was pretty quiet during that whole part!

I'm of two minds on this issue. On the one hand I'm glad it leaked out so I could look forward to seeing George Clooney (the romance with Carol is not a big deal to me--I just like to look at George!). On the other hand I'm glad they wanted to keep it a secret for those who like surprises. It was a great reward to all the Doug/Carol fans out there who hung there after all the times George and John Wells both insisted that he wouldn't be back. Maybe we need to keep an eye on Wells' fridge for any new plot developments!

On E! New Daily today, Clooney said that Wells had never asked him to come back until after Fail Safe had aired. He said Wells called him up and said, "Wanna go have some fun?" and they went and did it. He also said that they didn't publicize it because they didn't want it to be about him and the show's past.

Wanna go have some fun? That's classic! Can't stop laughing. If ever there was an understated statement.

Lara, exactly!! "Wanna go have some fun?" That cracked me up, too. Everything about this is great.

Funny! Very appropriate quote for the occasion...I had an idea that he would be asked after doing Fail Safe. It made sense.
