Well out of that one - no midfield stopper is worth THAT much, surely?

Couldn't agree more, seems a high price to pay. Wor Bobby has been quoted as saying Dacourt is like Roy Keane, but at that price we are better looking elsewhere i think.

What worries me is that if we are really going for Bassedas; Fiorentina are in for him as well apparently. We can't afford to keep missing out on these players otherwise we will end up having to make do with what we've got.

Yup way too much....Leeds to my mind seem to be drawing remarkable parallels with the way we did transfer business a couple of seasons ago....shelling out over the odds for average players that probably won't make it into the side anyway.....

Huckerby hasn't exactly set the world alight for them has he....

I'd say the only advantage they have over what we were is that they have a better youth team.....still....time will tell...

As for Bassedas.....I'm certain YBR (he's had quite a few scouting jollies this season!) will have compiled quite a list of targets and will have backup targets in place should his first choices fall through...

Dacourt is not another Keane, and is surely not worth #8.3mm? While In one respect I'm glad we haven't got involved in spending silly money on such a player, this sort of valuation is truly scary.
The other thought is that the future for David Batty must be looking pretty bleak.

Spot on as usual Clarky...

My initial reaction was one of gladness that it wasn't us being mugs for a change! I also thought about poor old Bats as well....looks like the combination or rib and heart?!?!?! trouble has finally done for him.....

Shame cos I liked him....my kind of player (apart from the land crab side of his game)....

Yep, his ability to protect the back fo...one allowed us to hoy the kitchen sink at people. As soon as the creative forces that had made him essential to our team had been sold he looked like a waste of space. Shame, I used to love having him there.
