On the Tombstone of Edgar Allan Poe, the death and birth dates are October 9, 1849 and November 17, 1875. Is this number supposed to symbolize something else??

The date October 9, 1849 was the date of Poe's original burial and November 17, 1875, was the date a monument was dedicated to him.
