SC hasn't really had a job since mick Wadsworth came in, and I feel sure the 'arrangement' he had with BR was to ease the transition from RG by staying on until the end of the season.

He has been very low key, but seems a decent bloke, and I'm sure we all wish him all the very best of luck.

According to Bobby on the Official S*ite, Clarke is off to some UEFA coaching course. Says he did a lot of work for him, including scouting, also lots of praise. I'm sure Clarke also learned quite a bit from Bobby. Best wishes to him in the future. :-)

According to Ronnie:

Bobby Robson has paid tribute to his assistant manager Steve Clarke who has left the club, (writes ALAN OLIVER).

Clarke stayed at St James's Park even though his mentor and the man who brought him to the club, Ruud Gullit, quit at the end of August.

And Robson said today: "Steve asked permission to go on a full diploma coaching course with UEFA starting next Saturday and I've given him permission to do that.

"Whoever gets Steve Clarke will get a fine guy, a really good guy and I am sorry to see him go. He has worked very hard for me, been very loyal, very straight and very honest. He has worked his socks off in several segments of the club.

"He has done good team assessments and match reporting. We have sent him scouting on secret important missions so he has been identifying players for us.

"I wish him good luck and hopes he gets the right job."

When Clarke left Stamford Bridge to join Gullit on Tyneside, Chelsea said there would always be a job for him.

He will not be replaced at St James's Park, with Robson now having his backroom team installed.
