Interesting creature, but the image doesn't do a lot for me. I would crop out some of the foreground rock from the bottom up and have more space in front of the creature than behind to avoid the centred composition. Some fill flash would have helped as well.

I would be interested in your experience with the 400 3.5 especially for birds with teleconvertors. If you have the chance please e-mail me. Many thanks.

I think the tital said it all. A animal is the same as people and with it's head turned away from the camera it doesn't make you look at the photo twice. I really think this would have been a lot better if the animal was facing the camera

The red spot in the background is certainly distracting. And I would throw some light below so as to give more details to the underside of the creature.
