I don't know why I'm a bundle of nerves this morning...that's usually a good thing. :-)

The team selection was from teamtwaddle so probably not the real team!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Well Griffin is at right back and Barton at left, so might be correct...

Deatils, ITK! Sounds like a great one!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Shearer!!! I wonder what we're singing. I hope it is "England's No1" as Seamna will think we are being sarky about him!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Great ball in from Ketsbaia out on the left, The General tried to control it and opne of the defenders handled. 25 yards out pretty much dead central.......he lined it up he took a run....he hit it and the keeper didn't see it 300 to the man 2-1 to the toon!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Looking foward to watching that one tomorrow night.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

and the chant goes up......"same old shearer always scoring"

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

You name it, Dougal....they were singing it. "England's #1", "Same old Shearer, always scoring" etc :-)))))

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

I wish you could hear the noise I'm listening to........it is bliddy deafening.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Pahars just had a great chance to put a nail in the Wombles proverbial coffin

I think Shearer must be a secret BBSer and read Softies thread earlier!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

This isn't the time to be a Purist about it but Engalnd's No 1 is Seaman's song and Blackburn invented the same old Shearer song. Yer'd have thought 36000 Geordies could have come up with summat a bit more original! After so many goals, like. He must be delighted, bless him!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

ITK, Is it really loud at SJP?

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Dougal......the ASrse line up pretty much as shown above.....Maninger is in goal so Seaman can't appreciate the irony 1st hand picth side.....will be in the stand no doubt

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

ITK, do you know how much of our highlights BBC will use? Is it the usual nanosecond, or more liek 5-10min worth? Foxworld seems to show pretty much what BBC does....I'm hoping for something more extended..with interviews! :-)

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Just found the Arsenal line up - still, that front pair would be welcome anywhere. I'd have Suker tomorrow.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Dougal, this is a family BBS.....

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

DCiara....don't know about MOTD as yet......it is pretty much down to what happens at Bradford, Southampton and Upton Park....what's left after that we shall have to see.......just wait to see Shearers free kick......

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Kegsy, LOL!!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

ITK, Do you wnat this programme? If so, shut it. AAAll REET?

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Why do so many people still not rate Gary Speed, 12 goals from midfield is a good return. Second top scorer in the team. I would have thought he'd have more fans than he does now.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

I hope I'm not tempting fate here......but Shay's playing a canny game....his hands look pretty solid.....oh dear....what am I doing saying sopmething like that

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Hi all - last BBS match of the season :-(

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Suker's getting a bit mouthy !

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

ITK, you make it sound like he's having to make hundreds of saves!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

re. Shay - sounded at fault (sort of) for the first goal - came out to soon

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Well Shay better play well...he's got P%^$z challenging for his spot! ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

About four at the moment, but at least three of them have been at his favourite angle......from the by line, waist height......he's let in a few like that at the near post.....but he has held all so far...and didn't have a lot of chance with the goal as I saw it....will tell you better later

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Christ i didn'tsee that. Perez on the bench....MUM....

How To Have Twice the Stress on a Match Day

Watch Bradford v Liverpool on telly with the sound down while listening to the webcast of Toon v Arsenal

I may need to hit those 2 bottles of dog in my fridge soon. 8-}

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

You want to try flicking between the Bradford and the Wimbledon match. I'm just happy Ihaven't got two TV's!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

See that you Bradford watchers? That's what you call a goal line clearance. OOOO very clsoe. YMO didn't look too happy did he?

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

I take it we want Bradford to stay up?

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

saw it...am going for that bottle now. I don't think 2 is going to be enough 8-o

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Given a choice between them and Wimbledon, yes.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Half time

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

How about a quick Half Time report, just for those of us (me) who can't access the webcast today. Pleeeeeeeze

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Am going for a fag to calm doon. You know, I come to work and don't do a stroke while there' a match on. I may as well just go to the game. Allison, got your mags yesterday. Can you mail me you address and I'll post them.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

First half quick round up:

Toon kicked off....attacking the Leazes End.....took the game to the Arse right from the start and YKD had a good attempt in the first could of minutes.

A great run and cross field ball from Hughes down the right only just alluded Speed on the back post.

Bit of nip and tuck for a while......then on six minutes Nobby played a great ball into Al in the left hand sector of the penalty area. He controlled the ball and held off the defender. He looked up and saw Speed coming into the middle and he played the ball striaght into his path......wallop.....1-0

Arse restarted.....Toon cebelrating....up to the Gallowagte end, ball into Kanu and whoops.....its 1-1

Toon kept up the pressure.....and a great ball was lkayed out to Kets on the left. He played it into the centre and it came down to the General.......he started to control it and as he tried to flick it over the defenders head he handled....25 yards out almost dead centre.

They lined up the wall.....Al lined up he path.....took a run back from about seven paces and thumped it straight through the wall and into the right hand side of Manningers net....2-1 to the Toon and 300 to the master...........couple more half and part chances after that, but nothing coming to much.....Toon take the first h alf and the 2-1 is about right on the balance of chances.

Elsewhere.....Makems 1-1 at Spurs, Smoggies 1-0 up at Everton, Bradford 1-0 at home to 'Pool, wednseday 2-0 up against Leicester and Watford 1-0 up against Coventry....rest 0-0

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

here we go....second half starts

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

A great run and cross field ball from Hughes down the right only just alluded Speed on the back post.

That must have been a great run, as isn't Hughes in the stands and Griffin playing full back???

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Thanks for the report, ITK! Sounds like quite a show for the final day!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Doh! yup.............

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Sheffield Wednseady 3-0 up.....what a shame they could do that earlier in the season eh!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Sheff Wed are enjoying their last game in the Premier, 3-0 up v Leicester City.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Teams that are relegated seem to relax once they know their fate. Do you remember how Notts Forest started winning last year and ho well Blackburn played against us on the last day of the season. 21-0 to the Nationwide" they sang. Doh.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

OOOOOhhhhhhh

Neat littleninterchange of passes in the middle of the field....fell to Kets who hit a driver and was only parried by Manninger......Barton (?) following up put it just wide.......just by about 5 feet!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Time to bring out an old chestnut from the beginning of the season...

I wonder if Shearer should go for a hat trick today? :-)

Kets just pulled another one wide of the right hand post

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Like I said 13 goals from a midfielder is not a bad return. I also remember sticking up for him when we first signed him.

Wahey Gary Speed

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Suker is a mouthy pr!ck at best. Canny player though, but another spoiled brat. Would do well at Newton Heath

OOOOOOHhhhhhhhhh....nearly another 'fluke' goal for Al....still 4-2

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Shearer missed a sitter!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Bearing in mind that we are playing Arsenal and Spurs and playing Sunderland, it's a hell of a derby day!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

nooo....don't want spurs to win...then we can't go above them in the table(I'm not naming numbers!) ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

'bout 15 minutes left all round.....matches that mean up and down are Bradford 1 - 0 Liverpool and Southamton 1 - 0 Wimbledon.....so as it stands, Bardford stay and the Wombles go into free fall.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Would be nice for wee Kev to get a goal. Allison, I don't want Spurs to win either. I'd prefer the Toon to be in the top half of the table!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Gallacher nearly filled his boots.....on the field two minutes and free in the area....ball caught up in his feet

PAHARS! 2-0 to soton!

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

The only sad thing about the Dons going down would be that we will lose that awesome sight of about 15000 Geordies taking over an away ground.

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

Houiller thrown all his available attackers on now...meihjer, camara, hesky, owen

-- Anonymous, May 14, 2000

MOTD - a full 70 secs of highlights. Indeed, a positive coverage bonanza for Toon fans.
Pity the main camera failed, so we got only a pitch level camera's view of Andy Griffen's smashing goal.
AS's free-kick looked even better on MOTD than it did live.

BTW, what about that plonker Alex Rae trying to rearrange Daveeeeeeed's lovely features?

As far as the main camera going for the Griffen goal....I can atest to that and if yuo look higher up this string you will see my "Oh shit the pictures have gone" posting followed by the "they have come back and are showing Andy Griffen" posting.....right sod cos it looked a good goal well worked goal

ARGH...for once you guys in the UK got more highlights....the US got NONE. Zilch. Zippo. Nada. Nichts. Anybody know if they're availabel online anywhere? Still, it was fun watching the Wombles lowlights and listening to our scores being announced as they happened. :-)
