I think it was because she realized that she could only love doug, and the only that she ever loved luka was because he was exactly like doug

Yes I truly do! She was honest with Luka. No matter what happened with Doug, Doug would always be Carols soulmate. Luka just did not have a chance.

It was definitely the right thing to do - I mean, they should not have even broken up last season, when Doug first left for Seattle. They were engaged! Doesn't that mean anything? Carol and Doug were meant for each other, and if Carol didn't go with Doug, then she would never be truly happy.

i knew carol wouldn't get with luka but you cannot say she was honest with the poor guy,she led him on and used him as her own personal test your love for doug-o-meter. if she was honest she should have told him the truth from the start and stopped being so bitchy in her responses, luka is a good sweet guy and didn't deserve that.

It was absolutely the wrong thing to do and quite unrealistic. It seems to me a very weak ending on the part of the scriptwriters who probably created the thing between Kovac and Carol in the eventuality she (Julia) decided to stay with the series. Having come to the end of the series and realising she was definitely going to leave to pursue other career avenues they were left with the dilemma "what do we do with Carol?" So having built this whole thing up, rather skillfully, between Carol and Luka they then tear it down with a weak denouement. Let's face it, Doug has always been a serial womaniser and it seems inconceivable that there wouldn't have been women after Carol and that house looked awfully big for one person to live in. It would have been much more realistic if Carol had turned up at the house and seen Doug with another woman and decided to make a fresh start somewhere else. Doug loved her so much he left the kids and stayed in another city? That doesn't seem like the actions of a man who loves a woman. He's selfish and self centred - a likeable charming guy, but selfish all the same. Carol may love him but sometimes things just don't work out and to see her run to Doug (and let's gace it this only happened because it gave the scriptwriters an easy out and not because it made good story sense) just sucks. An excellently plotted and well written series has been jarred by this sorry episode of character exposition. Just ask yourself this. Would Carol and Doug ever really be happy? We know they wouldn't be and not only would it never work Carol would know that, no matter how many "life lessons" come to her during a day in the ER indicating she should be with her soul mate. She's too smart for that. She would never have gone.

I think Luka and Carol should have been together forever. I mean they were soooo perfect for eachother!!!!!!

I think it was totally the right thing for Carol to do. She was totally in love with Doug. He loved her to that is why he had such a big house because he was hoping that she and the babies would come live with him. He sent her that birthday present and had asked her to move their again. Carol never really loved Luka he was just a sweet guy that was helping her out.
