Burger King Employees Charged

SCOTTSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Three teen-age Burger King employees were charged with putting urine, spit and caustic products like Easy-Off oven cleaner in the food for eight months.

No injuries or illnesses were reported, the Monroe County Health Department said.

The restaurant is at a service area along the New York State Thruway.

``To do it for such a long period of time - it's simply bizarre,'' Kristine Smith, a state Health Department spokeswoman.

Scott B. Savino, 19, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were arrested this week and charged with tampering with a consumer product. The two younger defendants were not identified because of their ages.

The three were accused of using such cleaning products as Easy-Off, Kote Soil Shield and Comet with bleach.

They can cause burning or irritation in the mouth and even severe burning of the stomach or esophagus.
