greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

MY unlce recently contacted me with a problem, trying too make 36bpp scans using the following slide scanners:

JenOptik JS21 Slide Scanner Primefilm 1800u

He said whenever he uses 36bpp colour depth, he gets megenta lines down the pictures, even in the preview window!

can anybody help shed some light on the situation ?

I bought a Jenoptik JS21 when I was in the market for a filmscanner. The specification looked very good for the price.

It went back after three days for a refund. The occassional magenta lines were one problem. Constant jamming of the carrier was another, terrible colour from negatives was a third problem, failure of the carriers to align properly was a fourth, poor colour saturation from slides, the fact that the negative strip spacing didn't co-incide with the negative carrier........ should I go on?
