It doesn't hurt like it used to do...

When a team buys a world star it used to get to me, now l don't care one bit. Is this a sign of softening up or is premiership football getting bloated predictable and one sided or is it great?

Who're you talking about? You used to have a soft spot for Karembeau didn't you?

It's down to all the cash around and the eternal quest for success :))

I do like Karembeu, with Hasselbaink added they could be quite a team - throw in Tino etc. But l'm not moved - Man U will win it again and 3 bad teams will drop, yawn

In response to this thread title I was about to post "that's what wor lass says these days", but that would be vulgar

ESPECIALLY with your "different" approach Rob.

Bobby, apologies in advance for what I'm about to say....

It's just like any other muscle that'll stretch with over use and it's certainly been over used!!

If any girl said that to me I'd tell her to get back in the kitchen and bake me an apple pie...

Ever get the feeling that you should have just kept yer mouth shut?

Over used? I only have a birthday once a year, y'knaa!

Back to the intended topic of this thread. I'll admit to a twinge of jealousy over the Van the Man signing (until he bust his knee again), but only 'cos I know he'd work well for YBR. Apart from that, I'm only ever bothered about our signings, 'cos I don't give a stuff about any other team in the world.

I still get very annoyed when certain players that have been linked to Newcastle (or should have been)sign for rival clubs. Last year, the likes of Robbie Keane going to Coventry, Bridges to Leeds, Jansen going to Blackburn really got my goat. These are all players who we could have afforded but let go to other clubs. At the moment I would dearly love us to sign Rebrov, Jansen, Richard wright or Louis Enrique. But think that they'll all end up elsewhere, Mind you it hurts just as much seeing certain players in our squad who aren't good enough to wear the black and white shirt. What annoys me most is that we that fans are paying their wages.

Ace,
When you have no control over the situation, you're forced to trust implicitly those who are in control.

Luckily we have somebody now who isn't going to scare the shit out of us each time he goes into the transfer market. Our two previous 'managers' had us all gibbering heaps from the bollix they dropped.

If he dips out I don't think it'll be down to his mismanagement.

They say a manager lives or dies by the Centre Forward that he signs. All the other positions matter not. People don't remember who signed which midfielder or defender. We all remember that Keegan signed Shearer, Dalglish signed Ian Rush and Ketbaia and Gullit signed Ferguson and Maric. I just hope that the centre forward or Forwards that Robson signs aren't the death of him.(as nufc manager that is)

Its a great realization for you Swifty. It doesn't matter diddly squat who signs for other teams. What we need is a balanced team that can play all the time. You still can't buy success, particularly with just one or two players. There are many examples. Well, lets start with the Mackems and Trevor Ford and Shack. Besides "world stars" just can't keep it up all the time.

More accurately, Keegan signed Cole, Ferdinand, Beardsley, Shearer, Asprilla, Ginola and Huckerby as strikers
