Kathy, try the drug store in Hooper, Nebraska. Hooper is on U.S. 275 about a third of the way from Omaha to Norfolk. (When you get there, remember to pronounce the name of the town "Huper.") Also, I think it is Shenandoah, Iowa, that has an annual "Old Fashioned Soda Jerk Festival" every summer, but I may have that mixed up with the annual Shelly Fabre' festival. Anyway, the soda jerk festival is in one of those southwest Iowa towns and the Iowa Department of Tourism website should be able to give you the details. (The rest of you can all stop laughing hysterically now at the thought of Iowa having a Department of Tourism...)

Hi Kelly--my friend who owns the Emma Chase Cafe, Prairie Maid, & Fudge Factory & (is in the process of putting in a bakery), has a soda fountain. Her name is Sue--it is right on the main st. of Cottonwood Falls, Ks. just off of hwy 50. Cottonwood Falls, is in Chase County of Ks. & has the oldest working Courthouse in the state of Ks. It is made out of native Limestone, & graces the town square. This is one mile from the Tall Grass National Park, that is right in the heart of the beautiful flint hills! (I'm haveing senior moments today--I'll have to look up the web sites for you). There are several soda fountains in Ks.--well you know--I'll have to look them up for you also! Kansas is one series of small towns full of history & great things to encounter! Everyone sells Ks. short---if you come through Ks. I know there will be hundreds of great small towns to experience.I'll look up the web sites if you are interested! Sonda in Ks.

Brad, maybe I can have Sue mail ya one fron her soda fountain! ha! When she is busy & I'm in there, I help her out, I love makeing anything anyone can dream up for me to make! On the first Sat. night of the month is "jam session", there! The first Sunday of the month is "biker breakfast", I think the second Sun. is "antique car day", one night soon, we are all going to bring our rocking chairs to town-- line them up on the side walk, & set & rock & wave, at the cars & visit! It doesn't take a lot to entertain us! ha! In June is the folk life festival, that Sue helps put on, it is on the courthouse lawn. Sonda in Ks.

Hi,

Here's a soda fountain for your reivewing pleasure.

New Mexico State Hwy 14, east of ABQ; it's in either Golden, Madrid, or Cerrillos (sorry, can't remember which one). You get a _built_ Coke; that is, ice from an ice chest, soda water from the thingy, and how many squirts of Coke syrup as per your request. If it's not strong enough, they'll keep adding until you like it.

Found it last summer on vacation to NM; we really loved that trip. Hopefully a repeat next year.

There's a sody shop in downtown Poulsbo, WA, which is a town of 6,500 across Puget Sound from Seattle. The town has strong Scandanavian roots (which the Chamber of Commerce tends to tout). I'm not into ice cream and sweet stuff very much, but we had a couple of sodies at the bar once--I had boysenberry, made with ice and soda water and syrup.

Try Baggett's Drug in Kingston TN - they still run the soda fountain while you're waiting for the prescription.
