IS THE SONY MEMORY STICK AN OK STORAGE MEDIUM

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have been seriously looking at the Sony DSC-S70 digital camera and it seems to be just about everything I need. I am a little leary about investing in a proprietary storage medium like the Memory Stick. (I currently use a Mavica with a floppy storage).

Does anybody have any experience with the Memory Stick? How does is work in the real world when you're out in public taking lots of pics? Are you always swapping Memory Sticks? Do they end up costing an arm and a leg?

Thanks for your thoughts.

i was fearful about memory stick before I got a 505, but in retrospect it's fine. The cost and everything else is pretty comparable. The only diff I noticed is that the PCMCIA adaptor costs a lot more.

I previously used compact flash in my Nikon DC. I have hesitation before switching to DC using memory stick. I find it OK. Memory stick has maximal capacity of 64Mb and its price is reasonable. The only problem is that it seems too small. I wonder if I would drop one.

All seems ok to me i rather like the idea I have a F505 and the Stick works just fine.. You need to have the 64mb stick tho anything else is just too small

Sony is claiming to have a 256meg memory stick up their sleeve....if they get it out it will help. Transfer time is slower with memory stick, than CF cards.
