ATLANTA, May 9, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- A service outage affecting several retailers in the Athens area, including several who those who sell tickets for the Georgia Lottery, has been cleared.

BellSouth (NYSE: BLS) has determined that the outage resulted from a defective piece of equipment in a switching center in Covington.
