What DIgicam models come with remote controls?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am interested in purchasing a digital camera with a remote control that will page through the images when hooked to a TV or computer and delete unwanted images. I used the Active Buyer's Guide but requiring a remote control seemed to trip up the selection process reporting that no models were suitable.

The only brand that if have been able to confirm with a remote is the Olympus models.

AFAIK,the Oly C-2020 and C-3030 are the only models that include a remote control in the box with the camera. Several Casio models support a remote (I think the QV-3000 is one of those), as does the Canon PowerShot Pro70. The Canon remote is tethered by a wire, the Olys are IR (infrared = no wires). I believe I've seen both wired and IR controls for some of the Casios, but I don't recall which. I've only actually used the wired control, which I think was on a QV-8000 (1.3 megapixel camera). Hope this helps!

The RC on my C-2020Z works just fine, and I assume that the 3030 , and the newest 3000 has the same option...

My QV-8000 came with a wired remote which plugs into the serial interface of the camera. All controls are available except on/off and rec/play, so the remote can be used for either capture or playback.

The connector is a standara 2.5mm stereo jack, so you could make an extender for the 1m supplied cable for less than $10.
