Least Expensive Lens Sources

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

A while back I remember someone commenting on what I thought was a really good price for the 110xl Schneider. If I am right it was an overseas source and the price was a lot, I mean really a lot, less than what is listed in B&H. Does anyone have good sources for new lens's like this? Thanks! Craig Murphy

Go to www.robertwhite.co.uk --- this is the source that you remember. I have dealt many times with Robert, and without exception have received fast, friendly, and accurate service. And prices that should make many of the US dealers cringe in shame!

I bought my 110XL at the end of March. I paid roughly $1150 plus $50- 60 for shipping and duty. This was roughly $1000 less than the US price. I remember placing the order on Friday and it was at my door on the following Tuesday. You have to wire money. I have dealt with this guy several times with good success. Send him an email and he'll quote current prices etc.

I recently got a 305 G-Claron from Robert White at a price significantly lower than US dealers; it was even less than used ones have often sold for on ebay. Had it in about a week.

Note that US customs duty etc will have to be added to the total cost; for me shipping plus duty came to about $50, but it was still a tremendous bargain.

Last I looked, RW was selling it for $1100. Great lens, great price...

I had Badger Graphics get a gray market 72XL lenses for me. When I checked around, their price (factoring in shipping and customs) was either better or very close to the off-shore dealers. They were also able to get me the lens in a Copal Press shutter. Some of the off- shore companies don't do "specials". I'm not sure of their competitive pricing on the 110XL, but I'd suggest you check with them. As many people have noted in this group, Badger is a very good company to purchase from.

I got mine from overseas, and found it easy and timely. I paid $1071 plus $40 shipping & handling. US Customs is varied as to import duty charged, mine was $32. I will try to paste all the info they sent me.
