Magpies swoop for Sinclair ++ Newcastle boss Bobby Robson is reportedly lining up a six million pound move for West Ham midfielder Trevor Sinclair. Sinclair has had a successful season with the Hammers but Bobby Robson sees him as the ideal player to add a bit of pace to his side. It is thought the Newcastle manager has #15 million at his disposal to strengthen the squad in the summer. The 28 year-old is on the fringes of the England squad and turned down the chance to join Newcastle before he moved to Upton Park in January 1998. Hammers boss Harry Redknapp would want to hold on to the former Blackpool player and fans favourite but may have no option but to accept the #6 million offer. Sunderland and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation. Meanwhile Newcastle midfielder Robert Lee has rubbished reports that he will be moving in the opposite direction. Lee is a West Ham fan and it was reported that he would like to end his career at Upton Park and be a part of the Trevor Sinclair deal. However the former Charlton midfielder will be staying in the North East. "Everyone knows I am a West Ham fan but Bobby Robson has been great to me since arriving last autumn and I'm staying here," said Lee.

6 million for Sinclai and they talk about 5 million for Solano!!!!

Sinclair is a good player and I'd like to sign him (just so that he stops scoring a gainst us) but come on 6 million..... How's about a swap for Maric and Charvet. Now that seems fare enough doesn't it?

sinclair must want a new contract or something and his agent is pushing around crap like this to tempt ole' Arry to sign him for a few more years. We don't need a right sided midfielder we need one for the left!

Trevor sinclairs agent is doing a canny job, or is it Redknapp, circulating these daft prices . Sinclair is worth #2.5 m plus Ketsbaia.

Here's another one. Close season will probably be worse for speculation than the last one.

WITH many teams being knocked out of the second round of the Mexican Summer 2000 tournament, many foreign players could be set to leave the country, including Guadalajara defender Roberto Palacios - who has been linked with a switch to Newcastle United.

The Owls' Peruvian defender is a close friend of compatriot Nolberto Solano who has been a great success at St James' Park since joining in 1998.

"I want to emmigrate, to change my horizons", said Palacios this weekend. "I don4t want to stay on the same level forever, I want to trascend, but I must tell you that I4m so sad to leave these team under the circumstances (of disqualification)."

Another Owls foreign star Uruguayan Sebastian "Crazy" Abreu, is about to sign for Spanish champion-in-waiting Deportivo La Coruna - who he played for in the past.

Abreu is close to becoming the Mexican "Pichichi" this season as has 13 goals on his own and a pending game, one goal behind the leaders Mexican Everaldo Bejines and Ecuadorian Agustin Delgado.

Other big name players who could depart, are Argentinian Federico Lagorio and Christian Zermatten from UNAM, and Alejandro Glaria of current champions Pachuca.

Did anyone else think, "I can't remember seeing himplay for Sheff Wed!"

It did cross my mind that maybe they had sent their 1sy XI over there to see if they could win that league. No wonder they are about to be relegated....
