camera for school

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

hello to all of you out there! I'm going to start school this summer and one of my class is photography black and white. The intructor told me I will need a 35mm manual camera. Now manual camera's are not cheap these days considering all camera's are becoming auto everything, at least not the ones that ive found. I'm reluctant to buy a used one, I dont want to get ripped off. My question is what kind should I buy to satisfy my teacher's request and my budget?? Please send me any suggestions. thanks a bunch!! angie

Wrong forum... this forum deals with digital cameras only.... try the forum in photo.net... but the classic manual camera would be a Pentax K-1000. These are cheap and can be had on ebay for a low price... if you have dealt with ebay before, check for the user's profile, and if it's excellent, ask them about the condition etc... most of them come with the standard 50mm lens. you do not mention what your budget is so i cannot even reccomend any camera for you... but just keep in mind that the new automatic slrs still perform the same functions of a manual camera... it's just cheaper to buy a manual camera (preferbly used)
