way back when bob took over did you really really think he'd keep us up?

I thought he would keep us up, but I didn't think he would have done it so easily, considering the players he had at his disposal. Guillit must be sick that he couldn't get the same players to perform for him, just goes to show what a wank he was. I just hope that when bob spends all this money he doesn't buy players that only come becuase of him, because when he retires or has a heart attack (whichever comes first) we will be stuck with a bunch of sheep. I know the heart attack thing is a bit harsh but at 67 and being in charge of a premiership club that has underachieved for years in a city where the demand for success is so intense the old stress level must be pretty high. I hope he goes on forever or at least makes a recommendation to the board as to his successor (Not AS) maybe he should buy Martin O'Neill, just a thought.

I had doubts.....bliddy big ones.

The way things were going, even as early in the season as it was I belived that we may have been forced down to regroup and come back again.

Withing four to six weeks of YBR arriving I had changed that view completely and I knew then that we could do it.

I even started getting delusions of a top half finish a few weeks back, but that one did disappear..................or did it?!?

Disillusioned we didn't make the Champion's League - YBR has let us down badly.

I had all the confidence in the world in the good old Bobby, especailly after the mauling of Sheff Wed. Shame about the semi final though. All he's got to do know is get rid of the donkeys we have at that place and bring some genuine quality.

I thought if anybody could do it, wor Bobby would be the one who could give it the best shot. But I wasn`t totally confident. (:o) All I can say is `Phew`!!!!!!

After the mackem 1-2 I was certain we were down.

I was heartened by the BR appointment - undoubtedly the best man for the job - and felt we might just have a chance under him, but only just.

The man has effected a miracle - nothing less. He deserves a statue in the City - that's the magnitude of his accomplishment. I doubt ANYONE else could have done it.

To be honest, I really wasn't worried at the time Robson came in. He had a long way to go to the end of the season. I saw Robson as (probably) the only saviour at the time. Bringing in a successful other manager may not have worked. YBR had the passion as well as the pedigree. Had he not got some decent results straightaway (Sheff Wed, Chelsea - OK, bad result but great performance, Leeds away - ditto) I'd have started to get concerned. But we were only a few games into the season.

Credit where credit is due. The board got it right when they sacked Gullit left and the appointed Robson. If only they'd done it when KK left...........ah, dream on Screach!

I was a bit worried about his age and whether he'd be up for such a task, but felt that if anyone could do it, he was the one. If only because he clearly bleeds black and white. As I started hearing andreading his first interviews, and seeing the way the players responded to him, all doubts vanished.

I had massive doubts. Dangerous move I thought. Last saw Bobby looking flustered and confused as a pundit on ITV's World Cup Coverage where he was being openly mocked by the studio 'talent'. Mistook dignified silence for confused senility....never make that mistake again!

Worrried about his health. Concerned that the players would give him the runaround. Expecting some early reverses with the delighted meedja ready to pounce. All I can say in defence of my utter ignorance is that you refer to my rants about the meedja to see why I feel I was left with no information on which to base an opinion. Years of mockery and slight regard for YBR from the mmedja in his own country have been placed under a very harsh spotlight now we have all been confronted with a Grandstand view of the Great Man in action.

Never been more happy to be so wrong in all my life. Thank God the people who had to make the decisions had the strength to go with their gut-feelings and not follow the pundits.

I thought we'd be OK - but I also thought we'd win the league in KKs last full season.

With the squad we had a decent manager must have been able to cobble together 40 points.

YBR has done this and much much more. The semi performance was probably one of the best I've seen since the MU 5-0 - HE got them to do it and sorted the tactics.

As has already been said - shift some of the wantaways and can't plays sign 2 or 3 in place of about 10 and he'll do us proud for next season.

My god.....somethings wrong....Clarky and me have agreed on a thread!

I never believed it possible.......but what's this....oh damn it.....he didn't like Fuertenventura........no Clarky, no Elle and no viagra, just the missus and two kids, but the kind of time I was having at the time, what you described as quiet heel was just what we wanted....mind you.....it coincided with the first Liverpool 4-3 so it was't that relaxing!

Sorry, that should have been 'quiet hell'

I actually thought we'd finish above the SMB;s when YBR took over, veen during the Cocentry match when we were getting tonked I had faith in him.

Having said that i am pleasantly surprised at how quickly he turned it around. Class shows!
