China Computer "Love Bug" found in Guangzhou (05/8/2000) The new computer virus "I Love You" bug has been found in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.

Sources from the Computer Management and Supervision Section of the Public Security Bureau of Guangzhou said they received emergency phone calls from three computer users on Saturday, including two private trading firms, claiming their systems had been infected with the virus after opening e-mail from overseas.

Details of the damage is not available.

Computer systems around the world were infected Thursday as the virus, proclaiming ``ILOVEYOU'' in the email subject line, overwhelmed networks and burrowed into computer hard drives, destroying files containing valuable photos and videos. Friday's victims included United Nations headquarters in New York.

Chinese anti-virus experts told 'net surfers to make regular security inspections of their systems in order to find and delete the computer virus in time, to purge all "ILOVEYOU'" e-mail, and not click on unidentified e-mail nor surf strange Internet portals or download contents from there.
