Leaning Skyscrapers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I've had a Canon A50 digital camera since Christmas. I've taken thousands of pictures with it and have been very pleased with the results. Recently, I visited a major city and took numerous shots of the city's downtown section. In these pictures, the clusters of tall buildings lean at various angles in my pictures. They're impossible to correct with any of the photo editing software I have. I've looked skyline shots on the web taken with other digital camera and am seeing the same thing. Most of my pictures were taken at full zoom.

Is there any way that I can correct this problem or at least minimize it? Thanks in advance!

Dave, what editing software are you using? You can correct perspective in Photoshop. Fred

Yep, Photoshop will do it. You can also try taking your pictures from an elevated position, like another tall building. That way you avoid the converging verticals, as they're known, in the first place.
