Did anyone see the French Cup Final? Calais were beaten by an 89th minute penalty! What a sickener. I for one, am of the opinion that the Nantes player dived. There was contact but he could and should have stayed on his feet.

It's been a bad weekend for me. Carlisle who stayed in the league last season because of a dodgy loan deal, survived again, much to my disappointment. Then today (Sunday) Manchester City who were promoted last year on the back of some Man. Unitedesque injury time at Wembley, went up. There is no justice when it comes to football.

Dive!? that was a dive???? Never! It was a disgraceful challenge that deserved a penalty and sending off!!! Ooops.... forgot to set Uriah Rennie mode off.

I saw it this morning on TV. Absolutely bloody terrible. I'd expect the diving cheat to get slammed by the French press as the whole country except the Nantes fans were behind Calais. How can the bastard live with himself!? Silly question.... he's French

Can't agree.......more with Geordie. I saw it on b'fast TV today and it was truly out of the "David Ginola school of diving classics". What a bliddy disgrace.

They should have a re-run, or award the match to Calais.

I watched the game on Eurosport yesterday - no, I didn't realise they were showing it either, just flicked over by chance, great advertising (not). Calais were far from outclassed for much of the game but got some very lenient refereeing wrt some fouls in midfield.

Nice that the Nantes Captain at least realised that it was Calais's day anyway so he let their skipper lift the cup with him. I wish we showed that kind of pr nous occasionally.

Anyone see the Deportivo v Real Zaragoza game? Jeemy Knackers, I felt sorry for Deportivo. They remind me of the Toon - haven't won anything for ages and are conspiring to throw the title away at this stage of the season.

Definitely rooting for Deportivo. Got a friend originally from La Coruna, and her brother's involved with the club, so a good source of tickets etc. Saw them at Highbury this season, and Arsenal were lucky - the scoreline flattered them and they got all the big breaks, especially Djalminha's sending off. The more I've got to know them, the more parallels with Newcastle - underachievers, Northern port, great support regardless of success.

Windy

Is it rue that the hooligan element of DLC are known as the blue and white orgasm as i once read in a paper over here. Or was it a bad translation

Don't know about that, Bake. What I did find amusing about the fans (might be a general spanish thing), was that a fare few are always late, and if they see someone they know in the crowd, it's insulting not to go and greet them. So for about ten minutes after the game starts everyone's changing seats and doing the hugging and kissing routine - haven't seen any of them orgasm in the process though ;-)

Back to Nantes-Calais, I was disappointed, but I won't disagree with the call. There was some contact, if I saw it right the Calais player kind of stepped on the Nantes player's foot, making it bit tough for him to run. .

For those of you who didn't see the whole match, even if it was a questionable call, the ref had already let a few questionable calls go, so I think he had good reason to let that one stand.
