Cause for concern

I know we raised this some time ago, but things don't seem to be getting any better. What is it with our injury list? Why do we seem to have more injuries to key players than almost any other team?

Is it a matter of attitude (sicknote syndrome)? I'd have thought not. I could have accepted that arguement under the previous manager, but I don't think YBR would accept it (he uttered words to that effect about Dumas I believe).

So, is it the training style? Again, I'd have thought that with YBR's experience, something like that should have been sorted by now.

So - why do we have so many recurring, medium-term injuries?

You may be rght about training style but it could also have a lot to do with end of season knackeredness. Injuries do tend to plague tired bones and all the little niggles to magnify this. As for Pistone it is not uncommon to have hamstring problems when coming back from injury, but I would argue that the back room boys are not doing their job if people are not warming up properly.

Yomper, I'm not just referring to the current bout of injuries. We have been plagued with them all season, especially in the centre of the back four.

Screacher,

I read somewhere recently that BR had criticised RG's pre-season preparation, saying that when he took over the players were not fit enough, and blamed this for many of the early season muscle injuries.

Aye Screach, point taken, Clarky's point is interesting but I someytimes wonder how these guys can warm and warm down properly in stadium conditions.

TM,
It wouldn't hurt to spend fifteen minutes doing stretch exercises just before they come out for the cosmetic warm up.

Watching them warm up on the pitch never looks to me anything more than going through the motions - I'm not surprised that the first time they have to stretch, there are tears and tears. (Groan).
