What caused the death of Edgar Allen Poe? Does anyone know? Could it have been suicide?

It used to be said that Poe was an alcoholic and his death was attributed to that he was peproved of drink. But it is newly stated that a researcher from the universtity of Maryland Medical canter says he was killed by rabies. His medical conditions at the hospital didnt match with the alcohol situation and besides that, Poes' family swore that he had been abstinant for 1/2 a year. They said that Pow was a cat lover and it was likely that he was bit by one of his pets. They also say that rabies is only a possible diagnosis and we will never know forsure how he died. Poe died of depression because he foresaw a world in which people thought it would be funny and/or shocking to say he died by being "anally fucked untill (sic) he bled to death." However, according to editor H.C. Schweikert (Harcourt, Brace & Co., 1937), Poe stopped in Baltimore on a trip home from New York. It was election day. A corrupt trick to increase votes was to get strangers drunk (or drug them) then take them to various polling stations and "vote them" under false names. There is evidence of this happening to Poe the evening before he was found dead. Oddly enough, Schwiekert did not note whether or not Poe had been "anally fucked" or if there was anything else that suggested murder.
