greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Manny said this, Manny said that, LadyLogic did this, LadyLogic did that, I'm telling on you....

Resess is over children, time to take a nap, and wake up as adults.

This is a forum. For discussions, opinions, news. OTFR is doing a decent job. Leave the personal vendetta's out of it, and it will be a better forum.

Nah! This aint TB2000 there FF. This is bullshit. Meant to be and has lived up to expectations. Sorry pal but that's the ride.

-- Carlos (riffraff@cybertime.net), May 06, 2000.

Carlos,

You forgot to point out that it's also worth what you pay for it here. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. Always has been, always will be the case here. The only value of this FUD FARM, as the planetary allignment NON EVENT today also showed, just without as much fanfare as the Y2K FUD FARM CROP non event, is as a free bunch of lab rats for the psych folks to study -- at a safe distance, I might add! ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Carlos, Whatever it is, its what we make it, no?

-- FactFinder (FactFinder@bzn.com), May 06, 2000.

Yup FF. Hope your long standing straight talk rep helps. Always liked ya for that.

-- Carlos (riffraff@cybertime.net), May 06, 2000.

Carlos-

TB2000 wasn't much better than this. It's only advantage was that it was more entertaining because of the large concentration of freaks that inhabited the place.

-- CJS (cjs@noemail.com), May 06, 2000.

CJS,

Actually the freaks were largely left here by Ed creating the EZ forum. But, many have faded for lack of having favorite foils to joust with. Bummer. Truth be, this place is more fun. What the hell? Anybody wanna talk y2k cept in terms of pointless recrimination? Naw. Doesn't happen. Old crap. Waste of even this board's time cept for the few truly narrowed folk with nothing else to offer.

-- Carlos (riffraff@cybertime.net), May 06, 2000.

???,

I see you're busy contributing your usual amount of stimulating, interesting material here.

-- Not A Fan (???s@a.jerk), May 06, 2000.

Don't dis Manny, he provides a valuable service anchoring the lower end of the spectrum. And want to guess how many people regularly read any post with news of LadyLogic in it? It eliminates the need to watch hours of drivel on T.V. and endure the endless drivel of commercials if we can get it all here.

-- Searcher (lots@to.search.for), May 06, 2000.

Fact Finder,

No one is forcing you to read threads that pertain to Manny, Ladylogic, Mr. Polley, et.al. Why not simply read the stuff you like and ignore the rest. Isn't that the adult approach?

-- ItsaFact (its@a.fact), May 06, 2000.

Yeah factfinder go FUCK yourself.

Carlos (how the hell are you??), I've had my "Y2K jousts" with a couple of people, but it's like beating a dead horse, you know? People want to know "why nothing happened" and then when you tell them, they call you all manner of *lovely* names. There's still a great disconnect going on, as was pointed out by Cherri, whereby it was *just fine* to bash "pollies" all to hell, but OH MY GAWD, don't you dare throw the "doomers'" very own words back at them -- nope, can't handle that now.

So why bother?

I like the "esoteric" threads; haven't participated, but these people have some amazing minds. I like the humor; never one to pass up a good laugh (And FactFinder, I just *loved* your paragraph about Soap Opera 2000 -- ROTF...). There have been some "hall of fame" type one-liners of late (Uncle Bob on the thread, "Your Thoughts On Suicide": "I'm against it."; Uncle Bob (again) on the "Lurkers" thread: "I never come here any more."; even Manny, on the "What Is Trolling?" thread: "What a stupid fucking question."; and Uncle D, well, there are just too many to list), and they are worth the price of admission, if you will. And yes, (hanging my head in shame) I like some of the soap-opera stuff. I think this forum is robust enough, with enough different personalities, to support all of this.

So, what about Y2K would you like to discuss? (BTW, thanks for the "hi" on the other thread. Right back at ya :-))

-- Patricia (PatriciaS@lasvegas.com), May 06, 2000.

I like the same threads you do Patricia. Sometimes I'm just a grumblebutt and it shows. Talk y2k? Maybe. Me thinks the phenom will be the subject of study for some time. The universal hedge betting by both industry and government makes me ask who the hell out there knows what about anything. Not yet ready bow to the polly crowd. A few perhaps were knowledgeable enough to have really had it brained out but me thinks most were the dreamy type who always cling to the *It just can't happen* mantra because their life choices have left them with nothing but hope. What's with the LasVegas.com? Real?

-- Carlos (riffraff@cybertime.net), May 06, 2000.

Email addy is real, but the Yahoo one is still up-and-running as well. I use this one for posting (don't feel comfortable being anonymous and if someone wants to email me, I want to have a real address for that).

Hey, we're all "grumblebutts" at times; all is forgiven ;-)

To be honest, after my last go-round re Y2K, I'm really sick of it all. Don't care one way or the other. I used to wonder (around 1997/early 1998) if I was one of the "it just can't happen" crowd. And I think at least a part of all "pollies" are like that. But there were other reasons; don't really have to go through that again. IMO, I don't think *anyone* really ever knows what's going on, but that's universal. Guess it kind of keeps things exciting, in a way.

I kind of like the diversity in this forum. Like I said elsewhere, I really like that I've been able to kind of "get to know" some who were on the "other side of the Y2K fence" and that my "Y2K impression" was oh-so-wrong. Some pretty good people here, no matter what side of that stupid fence one "sits on" (or "sat on").

Vegas is a pretty neat place; kind of strange, but not by NYC (or LA, I guess) standards. It's weird living in "suburbia" (not to mention in a "house" versus an apartment), but it's the greatest feeling to look down "the block" and see palm trees on the block and some beautiful mountains in the distance. Didn't get much of that in Brooklyn [g]. Stuff that used to be a trip from NY is now a drive away. Love it!

Hope you are well; I always had a great deal of respect for you (still do); we had some pretty good "conversations" on Debunker. Do keep in touch and don't be such a lurker all the time ;-)

"ItsaFact," I surely did ignore the first 1,243 posts by Manny to LL from LL to Manny from Manny to Manny from LL to LL about their deepest innermost secrets. It was the 1,244th "me me me" post that moved me to express my opinion :)
