if it'd been me, he'd have required a few more stitches than hen he came in there.

I don't know, but that was one of the most satisfying parts of the episode for me! With all the "heavy" stuff going on (David's death, Carol's depression), the stitches scene and the guy who stole the rig ("I don't know, they're puking all over the place!") were much more enjoyable moments! It made for a good balance, which is what ER was always good at, more in the beginning than recently.

You're right, it didn't seem like the best choice to me either. . . but does anyone think it's a possibility it's her stepfather and not her biological father?

I don't care if he's her babysitter -- any adult who would have sex with a child is about two steps below pond scum in my book. Granted, Malucci was out of line, but IMO he gave the guy a taste of what he deserved.

Also, couldn't Cleo have waited to discuss the little girl's condition until they were out of the room? I thought the whole point of Dave being there was to distract her from what was going on. I know more than a few unbelievable things have occured on ER, but making Cleo a pediatrician takes the cake in my book.

Rachel--no, I don't mean that THAT GUY was her stepfather, I mean that the man she was referring to as "my daddy" could have been her stepfather as opposed to her biological dad--the man she was visiting for the week or whatever.

Rachel, lower than pond scum is right! Where are those knive wielding patients when you need one? That creep needed something a little worse that stitches without lidocaine. Malucci played his role very well (I can't believe I said that!).

Why the concern about it being her stepfather as opposed to her real father? Biological fathers are just as capable as molesting their children as stepfathers. Trust me on this one.

Yeah, I thought that having Malucchi stitching up the dad was a bit unrealistic, but I did enjoy his interaction with Kerry. His facial expressions were right on. So were hers.

L., I assume that the speculation about whether he was her dad had to do with whether the guy at whom Malucci lunged was the same "daddy" to whom the girl referred.

Frankly, when Malucci said, "Don't worry, he's never going to hurt you again," and then walked into the next room and went for the guy's throat, I know I was cringing and thinking "Man, I hope Malucci's got the right throat!"

I think Joy is trying to say that the guy in the accident with the child was her biological father but maybe the little girl was saying the person who molested her was a stepfather that she called daddy (and that the biological father could have been telling the truth). I think the fact that she had blood on her panties and bruises that were so vivid means the guy who was with her probably did the molesting (i.e. her biological father). I also think the biological father would have been saying what do you mean she's been raped not I haven't touched her. Did I clear anything up or just muddy the waters?

Like you said, Elizabeth, I was also going, gee I wonder if that's the right guy, mainly since he DID sound more than a little surprised at what Malucci was accusing him of. And yes, I realize that in all likelihood, the freshness of the bruises and bleeding indicates that the molestation occured relatively recently.
