FW: JOKE and MOTHER's DAY virus warning: This is the same as ILOVEYOU virus!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

Do not open the "Very Funny.vbs" attachment in any email you receive with the subject "FW: JOKE." This is the same as ILOVEYOU virus! It is also going around as MOTHER'S DAY and claims you owe money on a diamond ring or something.

If you got the "love bug" (and aren't you so sick by now of all the "love" puns? "Love stinks," "Love bites," "Love hurts," Computer users are "love sick," and now the hackers live in the "love shack"! Enough already!!!!), and you have run an antivirus and disinfected your PC, here's how to restore your MP3 files (your JPG files are irretrievably lost ... sorry!):

To rescue your hidden MP3 files, go to your Start Menu, and choose Programs and then Windows Explorer. Use Windows Explorer to view the directory (folder) where your MP3s were.

On the View menu, choose Folder Options. Choose the View tab in the window which appears. Under Hidden Files, choose "Show all files" and click OK.

Now youll see your MP3s with grayed-out icons. Right-click on one of them. Uncheck the Hidden box next to Attributes in the window which appears. Choose OK. Repeat that step for each MP3 file.

Once you're done, just to be safe, go back to the View menu, choose Folder Options. Choose the View tab in the window which appears. Under Hidden Files, choose "Do not show hidden or system files" and click OK.
