Was that snidey remark about Notts Forest meant to reel-me-in? :-)

We all fnow what the calibre of the Old European Cup isn't that of the current Champions League.

I'm sure there will be some nutters on here that will think differently tho'.

Aye, you're right. I don't recall Liverpool playing the likes of Brondy week after week.

That's right.....they only progressed into one further round on th etoss of a coin in one of their winning seasons.

They only beat FC Bruges in a final...a market town smaller than Morecambe on another occasion.

And..err didn't they play Dundee United in one semi once....certainly Dundee were semi-finalists one season.

And just WHO the feck were / are Bourussia Munchenglaadbach?

Nonetheless, they won the most prestigious Cup competition of the day FOUR times. The competition is hardly relevant. However, I must say that this risible debate on whether Liverpool of the 80s were better than Man United in 1999-2000 is absurd. Also absurd is the suggestion that Ferguson is the best manager of all time. He would just about make my top EIGHT (in no particular order - Paisley, Shankly, Herbert Chapman, Matt Busby, Jock Stein, Bobby Robson, Ferguson, Lippi).

Why is Bill Shankly always touted as one of the great managers? He wasn't that successful was he?

Dundee United lost to Roma in the semis, then Liverpool beat them in the final the year before Heysel.

Shankley took a side that was shit and facing relegation from the second and made it inti a Championship winning team.
