Who is really up to speed on the gossip in this place?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

I have been for the most part, "away from my desk" this past week, save for a couple of peeks and postings. But my head is already reeling, data overload, short-circuiting here. What's going on with OTFR, and why is there such an uproar? I would really appreciate a summarized re-cap of the latest happenings, PRETTY PLEASE =o)

Cin,

There's been an awful lot of monkey-spanking going on in the last few days.

-- Observer (observer@lotsto.observe), May 03, 2000.

Manny, I forgive you.

-- cin (cinloo@aol.com), May 03, 2000.

cin- it's because most of the participants to this forum are infantile in nature and look at dolts like decker, flint, et. al. as though they had an -i- and a -q- to rub together. The problem is so obviously that of immaturity, that to miss it is to relegate oneself to a regular participants to an idiot board like this one. That's how I see it.

-- C'mon-join the party! (dolts@R.us), May 03, 2000.

Ya now, I've been asking myself that same question -- and I've even been paying attention recently. My guess is that this forum is reaching the end of it's life -- after all, Y2K does appear to be over.

So, all some people seem to be able to do is: (1) argue about trivial matters of forum administration, or (2) post weird cult like disaster stuff, or (3) drop little verbal bombs in the hope of stirring up some excitement.

Face it -- the postmortem discussion by the Power People as to how the power industry handled Y2K is the only interesting thing going on here these days.

Synopsis:

1. Diane is fat, and Chris censored the pictures that proved it. Diane blamed Mr. Polly, who subsequently ditched LadyLogsick.

2. Hardliner has moved to Australia.

3. Flint is debating whether he should ban himself from this forum

4. Stephen Poole is still an ass, and Decker is its attached windbag.

-- TV Guide (the@story.thus far), May 03, 2000.

Well then, E.H., why don't you go ahead and start an intriguing thread worthy of everyone's attention?

The problem I've always had with people who are content to simply sit back and bitch about a situation is that they never suggest solutions or take the initiative to segue into what they'd consider to be a more constructive direction.

So dazzle us already...

Cin:

Old Regular started this forum with "uncensored" in the name. That's a done deal, as LUSENET doesn't allow the forum name to be changed.

AFAIK, up until this past week, Old Regular has posted anything deleted to the Deleted forum. Laura stated that she started a thread in response to Lars that was deleted, and it didn't show up on the Deleted forum. Retard posted some responses to Capnfun's thread about Sadie that were deleted. Old Regular moved ONE of the posts to the Deleted forum, stating that similar repeats were simply deleted and that the poster had been warned that the post was in poor taste on THAT thread. Another poster started a thread with a link to Diane Squire's forum on LUSENET and a link to some pictures of FRLIANs. Old Regular disabled both links, but DID move the thread to the Deleted Forum.

That's what happened.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), May 03, 2000.

Cin:

Anita has outlined the trigger, but not the main problem. The main problem is that OTFR has let it be known that "uncensored" doesn't really mean that after all, and that posts in poor taste, according to OTFR's whims of the moment, are hereinafter sufficient grounds for censorship. And if you don't like it, leave, y'hear?

Given that y2k is only barely visible in the rearview mirror anymore, being allowed to say just anything is all this forum had going for it. I guess the lights are going out.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), May 03, 2000.

whoops...and

5. Uncle Deedah has been added to the list of known spammers.

-- Addendum (this@just.in), May 03, 2000.

LunaC -- not bitching, just observing. Where do you think this forum is going? Why do you think so much weird material (your own excluded, of course) has been posted here recently?

My solution -- if I'm no longer interested in what I find here, then I won't read this forum.

-- E.H. Porter (Just Wondering@About.it), May 03, 2000.

Hey Cin,

When it all gets boiled down to it; Flint is collapsing under a flood of non-intellectual logic,it's called humanity.Decker has somewhat retreated from the scrutiny of logic that has been laid in his lap.

This is just the ass end re-cap.Looks like youv'e just about got the rest.

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), May 03, 2000.

In other words...

Were still waiting for the following events to happen to give us something to talk about:

1. 05/05/2000. 2. Gold rising to $2,000 per ounce. 3. The stock market collapse (any day now for the past 5 months). 4. Bill Clinton getting impeached (again). 5. Al Gore getting his chops busted for illegal fund raising. 6. Art Bell retired? 7. Artichokes are used as fuel for power plants in Spain. 8. Elian Gonzalez has finally dropped off radar. 9. Many of the posters here still have too much time on their hands and are incapable of running two coherent thoughts together.

That's about it...

-- Uncle Bob (unclb0b@aol.com), May 03, 2000.

Wow... that's what was spilled onto my pants. Logic, cap! I would have never recognized your brand. I'm still having the pants sent to the dry cleaners.

-- Ken Decker (kcdecker@worldnet.att.net), May 03, 2000.

Oh, so...normal everyday stuff. Gotcha. Thanks everyone! =o)

-- cin (cinloo@aol.com), May 04, 2000.

Ken,

Maybe that's the problem, you don't recognize anyones' logic but your own,it's the only logic that exists to you.Damn what a vacume!

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), May 04, 2000.

Hmmm.... Let's see... Chris, aka OTFR left Philly last year to " prep " her familys bug-out site in Canada, just in case Y2k was really bad .... but instead of going North, she went South, and a tad West... abandoning her kids and hubby for a "man" she thought could protect her... Just in case.

Her rich contractor hubby doesn't know any of this yet... he was looking into putting her in a phyco ward for her views pre 2000... and this forum is her way to convince Hubby all is right.

-- Netghost (ng@no.yr), May 04, 2000.

Netghost,

What's wrong dude? Are you doin' OK? Long time no see 'Net" don't be such a stranger!

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), May 04, 2000.

Hi Cap,

I'm a little pissed about some posting under my name, and Chis letting that go... but what the hell... she can do what she wants... Delete, delete.

Hope all is well?

-- Netghost (ng@no.yr), May 04, 2000.

E.H. - Fair enough. I can understand "observations". Sorry if I jumped on your case.

As for "where do I think this forum is going?", I don't know. It's still in its infancy and figuring out who/what it's all about. I think a lot of people have been testing the waters to see what will fly and what won't. There's been lots of discussion/squabbling about censorship and I think the dust needs to settle a bit before it's clear how it'll evolve. From the other discussion lists I've participated in, this is pretty much par for the course thus far.

Much like you, I'll stay as long as it's informative, insightful mentally-stimulating, humorous and entertaining. When the bickering becomes the predominant theme, then I'm outta' here.

(But if you *do*, by any chance, have an intriguing topic to discuss, I still wouldn't mind hearing about it. ;-)
